About The Madison Stars Basketball Club, Inc.

Our Mission Statement:   The mission of the Madison Stars Basketball Club, Inc. is to promote good sportsmanship and healthy, active lifestyles to children through the sport of basketball.

Our Vision:   The vision of the Madison Stars Basketball Club, Inc. is to enter the lives of young children and their families so that we can assist in teaching lifelong skills that will contribute to their health and wellness.  We believe that healthy and active young children will grow to be confident adults.  In order to be successful as an organization, our successes rely on the effort of our families and community.  As a solid unit, we can build bridges that will lead to healthy futures.

Our 2008-2009 Goal:   With the 2008-2009 season being our first year, our focus is on GIRLS basketball and our goal is to have one girls team at every grade level - from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Registration/Teams:   Registrations will begin in mid-July.  All players that are registered will be placed on a team.  Once registered, players/parents will be sent a confirmation letter/email and notice of when the player will be required to attend a skills evaluation clinic (in early September).  At the clinic, players will be evaluated and the coaches/evaluation committee will place players on a team according to their skill level, experience, commitment level, and more.

There may be a circumstance where we are not able to provide two separate teams...beginner players may be on a team with experienced players.  We want to give every registered player an opportunity to play and it will be the coach's responsibility to teach their players (regardless of skill level) how to play together.  It will also be the beginner player's responsibility to learn as much as possible.  All players are encouraged to practice on their own, in addition to the team's practice (as their schedule permits).  Such a situation will be discussed with the team prior to the first practice.

Commitment:   Once placed on a team, players are expected to attend all practices and games.  Generally, the season goes from September through February, with one/two practices per week, and one/two games per weekend (varies by team/league/schedule).

Teams will get time off during the holiday seasons: Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year's  (a few tournament teams may play over the winter break - it will be up to the coach and the team/parents.  All teams involved will be notified in advance.)
